I have finally gotten the edit user function working. You can now add your personal information and avatar on the edit user link located at the top of the site. Hopefully this will allow you guys to enjoy this site a bit more and we can allow this site to really take NR2003 to NR2007 status! Next on the list will be to allow you guys to edit comments made on people's files to fix typos or whatever. I may need to add more forums but that isn't something that needs to be programmed into the site so that may wait. Like I have been saying I am trying to get this site to be completely stand alone. There are a few things I will want to do but as far as any user is concerned the site is operational fully now. I can't think of many more things I am trying to have on here that you can't already do. So just to sum things up there are a few tweaks I am going to need to do as well as shore up security on here but these are the things you can do as of this moment: 1. Upload any files up to 15 MB in size, I think perfect for tracks and not a problem for cars or whatever. Right now I just want to help the cause of making NR2003 even better than ever as the sim community is being left to dry. Papy is gone and in its place iRacing is sueing everyone for trying to make the game better claiming it is hurting their potential profits in the future, and rFactor has only a good engine but it can't get any traction with its NASCAR non-treaded tires. And NASCAR Sim Racing, well isn't NR2003 at all and I haven't played it enough to have an opinion. So rFactor clearly has the potential, NASCAR Sim Racing has something, but NR2003 has the goods. It is very easy for someone to make a cool looking car for the game for themselves and tracks are straightforward (though not easy) and all I see are things wrong with rFactor this, things wrong with NR2003 that and all the while we are just sitting here 4 years removed from a new NASCAR game. Until NASCAR works out so that not one company has exclusive rights to make its games sites like this are all we have. We need discussion to see what is out there but until NR2007 actually gets built we need add-ons, mods and creativity. I have built this site from scratch in an effort to support this great cause of online/offline sim racing. Apart from whichever game is better (which is like debating whether curly or straight hair looks better) we should support all the people who do great work making these games great. I am trying to do my part. I don't want to need a track list to find all the great tracks out there. I am more than willing to host them myself here. Cars too for that matter. I love that the support is out there and that SteveB will search out the tracks and list them but there has to be an easier way. I am willing to give this a shot. See how it goes. Support may not be directed at this site and I can handle that. This site is not for me, it is for the community. If 15 megs isn't enough I will bump it up. I will be monitoring how much information is being stored on here and will make changes as necessary. So with that being said I feel confident that this site is now operational. Feel free to post files or even just talk in the forums. I will almost always trying to improve the site in some way. Have fun! | |
